Things To Do Sydney

Sydney is my favorite city in Australia, and here are my favorite things to do Sydney. Next time you visit you must experience these great attractions.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Well I have to start with this one, together with the Opera House, these two structures make up one of the most photographed and iconic sights on Earth. You can cross by foot or by cycle at no cost and the views are excellent. You can also experience the bridge walk where you walk along the top arch and get some of the best views in the entire country. You can do the bridge walk by day or night, I recommend both!

Sydney Opera House

The iconic Opera House is an architectural classic situated at Circular Quay on the harbour front. It is a world class performing arts centre and a world heritage listed building. The Sydney Opera House is truly a sight to behold.

Sydney Harbour Cruise

There are many cruises available including sight seeing, lunch and dinner cruises. Views are spectacular. Sydney harbour is also the lauch point for many large cruise ships leaving for national and international destinations.

Manly Beach

One of my personal favorites, Manly beach has a unique style and is perfect for that seafood lunch or dinner. You can get there by ferry from Circular Quay.

Bondi Beach

Australia’s most famous beach and one of the busiest beaches in the world. I highly recommend taking the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee beach, it’s simply brilliant!

Luna Park

Sydney’s theme park situated at Milsons Point near the north end of the Harbour Bridge. it’s a great way to spend a day, especially if you have children.

Sydney Observatory

This is Australia’s oldest and most historically significant observatory. Today it is a museum and admission is free. Well worth the visit, located in the historic Rocks district.

Star City Casino

For those who enjoy casino gaming and other indoor entertainment, Star City Casino is situated at Darling Harbour and includes hundreds of gaming tables, theatres, restaurants, nightclubs and a five star hotel.

Taronga Zoo

For animal lovers, a world class zoo with sensational city views.

Sydney Aquarium

This is one of the largest Aquariums in the world with the largest collection of sharks in captivity. For those who love aquariums and underwater life, this is a must see. Situated at Darling Harbour.

Sydney Wildlife World

Located next to the Aquarium, Wildlife World highlights nine unique wildlife habitats. Get up close and personal with some of your favorite Australian wildlife including koalas, kangaroos and snakes.

Darling Harbour

This is a large precinct near the CBD which boasts cafes, restaurants, bars, shops, hotels, museums and other attractions. A great place to spend time, go shopping or just walk around.

Sydney Tower

Another way to get spectacular Sydney views. Sydney Tower is equal in height to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Located at Pitt and Market streets above the centrepoint shopping centre.

Sydney Massage

This is one I had to add to the list, getting a great massage is one of my favorite pastimes and finding a quality massage in Sydney at the end of some shopping or sight seeing is the perfect way to end the day!

As you can see, there are so many things to do Sdyney has so much to offer. Come visit and enjoy!

Bondi Junction And Bondi Beach – Great Sydney Lifestyle

Sydney’s Bondi Beach is an Australian icon. It is Australia’s most famous beach and one of Sydney’s most visited locations. Australian’s are known as fun loving, beach going and sports mad Aussies, and Bondi Beach captures that Aussie spirit.

Bondi and the surf have been synonymous since long before the early settlers discovered it. The name “Bondi” comes from an aboriginal word which means “the sound of waves crashing on rocks.” What a perfect name!

Prior to 1961, there were trams running to Bondi which have been replaced by buses. These trams were just about as famous as the beach they were travelling to.  Buses now run from nearby Bondi Junction to Bondi Beach every 10 minutes and during summer they are all full. Though the beach has abundant car parking, accommodating tens of thousands of cars, it can be a big challenge finding a spot on a hot day.

On crowded summer days, Bondi Beach has a festive atmosphere and crowds can enjoy dining and shopping at the local business strips along Curlewis Street and Campbell Parade. Even in the cooler months Bondi Beach and it’s shopping district enjoy good crowds who just enjoy spending time at the world famous beach.

On a cold winters day you can watch the world famous “Bondi Icebergs” swimming in their icy cold salt water pool. Turn your head and you can see surfers braving the cold waves.

All year round you can enjoy the famous coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee and share the amazing views and the coastal path with joggers and strollers, young and old.

Bondi is a world famous destination that almost all travellers will be sure to visit before returning to their home cities and countries. The beach and the famous shopping of nearby Bondi Junction are way too good to miss.

One activity that both locals and travellers enjoy is taking in the benefits of the best massage Sydney has to offer. Massage in Bondi Junction is convenient and extremely healthful and there are a number of massage clinics offering sports, remedial and traditional Thai massage. The perfect way to relax after shopping or surfing.

When you stay at Bondi you have a great choice of accommodation. From budget backpackers to 5 star resorts with spectacular views.

It’s all waiting for you at Bondi Beach and Bondi Junction. Surfing, dining, shopping, coastal walks, Bondi Junction massage, and so much more, all in a stunning setting with a rich and colorful history.

Sydney Serviced Apartments

Sydney is undoubtedly one of the most stunning cities in the world. It’s stunning bay and iconic attractions are world renowned. Visitors and residents alike love the city and there’s no better way to enjoy your stay than in Sydney serviced apartments.

More about the apartments later, but why Sydney? Well when it comes to the attractions of Sydney, the list is huge.. There are aquatic attractions including water theme parks, the Sydney aquarium, Manly Ocean World and shark dives. There are coastal and bay views which are simply to die for!

And then there’s the wildlife. Don’t miss Taronga Zoo, Sydney’s famous wildlife hub. You can see all the Australian animals plus the big game animals of Africa and many other exotic, rare and unusual animals from around the world. Personally I still most love the cuddly Aussie animals like the gorgeous wallabies and koalas.

Top all that off with the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour and The Rocks district, and you have a city of dreams!

Sydney also has a great variety of options in terms of accommodation as well. I always love to stay in serviced apartments which are available most places. I have stayed in the CBD and some of my favorite beaches including Bondi, Coogee and Manly.

Serviced apartments in Sydney have all the luxuries you want. All will have a plasma or LCD TV with cable access such as Foxtel, a DVD player and ADSL internet access.. Kitchens are fully equipped with oven, microwave, dishwasher and all you need to prepare and dine with style.

If traveling to Sydney for business, there are corporate and executive apartments catering especially for the visiting business man. Corporate and executive apartments are also ideal for the relocation of employees who have moved to Sydney.

For business men and corporate executives, serviced apartments in Sydney are a great choice. But they are also a favorite choice for short term business trips and family holidays who want fully equipped accommodation in a great location which includes hotel style service.

How are they different to hotels? They are more like a home away from home. Sydney serviced apartments offer a relaxing environment, plenty of room to live, great furnishings and excellent amenities. Luxury, comfort and no hassles. Very affordable as well for those with limited budgets.

The great thing about staying in Sydney for business, pleasure or any other reason is the great sights, attractions and facilities you’ll find everywhere. For the ultimate experience, try staying in Bondi serviced apartments and enjoy the cafes, night life, coastal walks and of course the word famous Bondi Beach.

After your day, how about a magnificent Bondi massage? Finish off with a brilliant massage in Bondi and then wind down with a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the bay.

Health Essentials For The Weight Conscious

By Arthur Bakeright

Countless health studies now conclude that people are getting bigger, and if I may be so blunt, fatter, every year. Over half the population are overweight. No longer is obesity a rarity, it is commonplace and places an enormous burden not only on those who suffer with it, but also our health system.

Some of the many health issues caused directly or indirectly by being overweight include skeletal diseases, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and sleeping disorders. Common sense also tells us that there is a clear inverse relationship between obesity and longevity which is also backed up by many health and medical studies. An increase of 10kg in a persons body weight is enough to adversely effect both the individuals quality of life as well as their lifespan.

Obesity has serious consequences, but there are options and treatments that can reverse it’s effects. The detrimental health issues and complications brought about by obesity can be fought successfully with good outcomes. Preventing and fighting obesity can be undertaken in several ways.

1. Diet quality and management.

2. Striving to lower fat and cholesterol levels.

3. Exercising.

1/ DIET

Most diets fail, it’s a sad fact. Most people find dieting very difficult. Sustainable, successful diet regimes are possible, but what is the key to success?

The resounding answer is in changing your lifestyle. For most people suffering from obesity, most contributing factors are lifestyle related. Change is required. Change what you eat, how you eat, and why you eat, and you will change your life.

When dieting, change the foods you regularly eat that are detrimental to your health with healthier, better alternatives. Exchange the fast food and junk you consume with fresh foods. Vegetables and fruits, nuts, seeds, grains and fish. Create a record of the calories you consume and track them over time.

2/ FAT AND CHOLESTEROL

Cholesterol and body fat levels are elevated by a bad diet and a sedentary lifestyle with limited activity.

Cholesterol is not our enemy, it is actually an essential part of normal, healthy body function. But when in excess, it can cause serious problems with our arteries and circulation. Excessive cholesterol build up can lead to artery disease in the heart and in the worst case, heart attack.

The most common and often the most effective way to combat high cholesterol is through controlling the level of fat intake in your diet. Cholesterol levels can usually be controlled by good management of dietary habits and other lifestyle factors.

FOODS THAT PRODUCE HIGH CHOLESTEROL TO AVOID

Dairy – Substitute your high fat cheese and other dairy products for low fat alternatives. Most dairy products are now available in low fat or even no fat versions.

Meat – Be very selective with meat and choose lean meats. Avoid meat where you can visually see the fat, or diligently trim the fat yourself.

Oils – Most of us know by now to select oils low in saturated fat and high in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. Cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil is a great choice.

Junk Food – Needless to say, avoid junk foods like hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza and any deep fried foods. They are high in saturated fats and low in fiber and nutrition. Save them for rare occasions only, or better still, eliminate them all together from your diet.

Quantity – Apart from making better choices, you should also generally reduce the quantity of your food intake. People need less food than they think, and most people simply eat too much. Also, when you eat better quality foods with higher nutritional value, you are getting higher quality so you can do with lower quantity.

Naturally, guidance from a medical physician in dealing with cholesterol issues will help manage the problem in a safe and effective way.

3/ EXERCISE

The other major factor along with diet is exercise. It is paramount to achieving a high level of vitality and well being. Walking, jogging, bike riding and swimming are the most common forms of cardio vascular exercise. Choose one or more that you enjoy and is sustainable as a part of your lifestyle.

The essential thing is to make it a habit and a regular part of your life. Regular exercise will help you prevent and deal with many issues such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease.

Regular exercise will help maintain and build strong and healthy muscles, bones and most importantly a vital and robust immune system.

Diet and exercise are the cornerstone of achieving, building and maintaining a strong body wrapped in good health. Having a good diet or a great exercise program is a big step in the right direction, but they are by far most effective when combined with each other where they will have a synergistic effect.

When combined and sustained in a healthy lifestyle, good diet and exercise can not fail to create wonderful and vital changes to an individuals health, vitality and overall quality of life.
