A Few Boston Terrier Questions! Please see below regarding our 5 month old Boston Terrier…?
A) The Vet initially said she had a hernia and try to gently massage it daily (just fat through lining). Now I don’t see the hernia, will surgery still be required?
B) She was on Clavamox Antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection. It worked, she quit pooping in her cage… now it seems like it’s back. She’s again pooping (runny, sorry for the grosse details), and sounds once again sniffly. Will they put her on a stronger dose of the same antibiotic? How is this treated…
She’s got a vet appointment Wednesday .
THANK YOU!
EASY 10 POINTS.
Generally if you plan on having your dog spayed they will check to see if the hernia is still there and if so will stitch it up.Also if you plan on breeding and she still has the hernia when she is old enough to breed she should not be bred.I can not believe a poster here that bred a female dog with a hernia. They are lucky it didn’t stretch open and cause problems. They can be hereditary or caused by the mother dog pulling too hard on the cord at birth. Many times if small they will close on their own.
If she has a loose stool have the vet do a fecal and see what’s up.I expect the Clavamox given for the URI helped whatever was in the stool but not a long enough dose to cure.
