Bareback Elephant Riding: Advice Please!?
My wife and I (both in our late 20’s) are going to Thailand in a few months and plan on riding an elephant bareback for 2 hours. The next day, we plan on going hiking. Mistake? Should we reverse the activities? Will we be too sore?
I really want to do the elephant park first and then the hike the next day. Will a nice Thai massage later that evening help? Any pre-ride stretching that might help minimize the soreness?
Any assistance or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
I really don’t think you should be all that sore from riding an elephant. No matter how it looks, it’s actually fairly comfortable. It’s not like riding a horse when you’re not used to it; you have a lot more space to work with and get comfortable. You can adjust your leg position on an elephant. If you want to do the elephant park first I don’t think you’ll have a problem with hiking the next day, although a massage ALWAYS sounds good to me.
