I have a knot in between my shoulder blades and my spine that feels like it’s pinching a nerve or pulling something attached to my spine. Should I see a chiropractor to adjust my spine or massage therapist to work on the knots?

I get a LOT of benefit from massage! A good massage therapist is worth a lot to a person who has chronic pain, or to someone who just needs help to relax tight muscles, especially the neck and shoulders.
The rude remarks you are getting are left-overs from the “massage” places that were basic fronts for houses of ill reput. It comes from ignorance about what massage is REALLY all about, and they clearly have never had a therapeutic massage!
